چکیده
Abstract Background This case report documents a rare variation of persistent median artery. Normally transient vessel present during embryologic development the limbs, artery typically regresses by eighth week life as radial and ulnar arteries predominate distal vascular supply hand. In subset adult population, this remains which most often ends in carpal tunnel or hand without significant dependence. Case presentation An 84-year-old female cadaver was found bilaterally to have an that penetrated nerve forearm, continued through tunnel, then joined superficial arch, giving rise common digital second webspace. It also gave radialis indicis, princeps pollicis, anastomotic branch Conclusions anatomic variant piercing nerve, traversing providing aberrant primary blood large area are details clinically relevant those who treat disorders injuries.

Introduction: Median Nerve (MN) originated from medial and lateral cords of Brachial Plexus can be affected by anatomical variations which may lead to several diagnostic and therapeutic mistakes. This paper aim is to study about MN variations investigated by cadaveric studies. Materials and Methods: This study is based on research in electronic databases. متن کاملThrombosed persistent median artery causing carpal tunnel syndrome associated with bifurcated median nerve: A case report
BACKGROUND Carpal tunnel syndrome is a sporadically occurring abnormality due to compression of median nerve. It is exceedingly rare for it to be caused by thrombosis of persistent median artery. CASE REPORT A forty two year old female was referred for ultrasound examination due to ongoing wrist pain, not relived by pain killers and mild paresthesia on the radial side of the hand. High resolu...
متن کاملA Rare Bilateral Variation in the Formation of Median Nerve
The median nerve is formed by fusion of lateral (C5-C7) and medial (C8, T1) cords from the brachial plexus. Bilateral variations in the formation of median nerve are very rare. One of such variations was observed during the dissection of the upper limb of approximately a 30-35-year-old man cadaver, according to Grant s method. The median nerve was formed by the union of three roots on both side...
متن کاملBilateral Triad of Persistent Median Artery, a Bifid Median Nerve and High Origin of its Palmar Cutaneous Branch. A Case Report and Clinical Implications
We report the association of a persistent median artery, a bifid median nerve with a rare very high origin palmar cutaneous branch, presenting bilaterally in the upper limb of a 75-year-old female cadaver. The persistent median nerve with a bifid median nerve has been reported in patients presenting with carpal tunnel syndrome. Reports of this neurovascular anomaly occurring in association with...
