چکیده

Piling behavior (PB) is a common issue that causes negative impacts on the health, welfare, and productivity of flock in poultry houses (e.g., cage-free layer, breeder, broiler). Birds pile top each other, weight birds can cause physical injuries, such as bruising or suffocation, may even result death. In addition, PB stress anxiety birds, leading to reduced immune function increased susceptibility disease. Therefore, piling has been reported one most concerning production issues layer houses. Several strategies adequate space, environmental enrichments, genetic selection) have proposed prevent mitigate laying hens, but less scientific information available control it so far. The current study aimed develop test performance novel deep-learning model for detecting evaluate its effectiveness four CF hen facilities. To achieve this goal, utilized different versions YOLOv6 models YOLOv6t, YOLOv6n, YOLOv6s, YOLOv6m, YOLOv6l, YOLOv6l relu). objectives were reliable efficient tool commercial egg-laying facilities based deep learning new research used dataset comprising 9000 images 6300 training, 1800 validation, 900 testing). results show relu-PB perform exceptionally well with high average recall (70.6%), [email protected] (98.9%), [email protected]:0.95 (63.7%) compared other models. detection increases when camera placed close areas. Thus, newly developed demonstrated superior given tested

Understanding Mortality Rates of Laying Hens in Cage-Free Egg Production Systems

In cage-free egg production systems, concerns have been raised over hen mortality rates. High mortality is an obvious indicator of poor welfare, and problems should be addressed without delay. It is important to note, however, that mortality can vary substantially between hen flocks, and that some cage-free systems have healthy flocks that do not suffer substantial death losses. These systems c...

Feather Pecking of Laying Hens in Different Stocking Density and Type of Cage

Both stocking rate and housing systems are main factors influencing the occurrence of feather pecking in laying hens raised in conventional cage system. This study examines the effects of different type of cage and stock density on feather pecking behaviour in hens. Total of 216 Hisex Brown hens at 16 weeks of age were randomly selected and put into 2 types of battery cages: conventional cages ...

Cage hygiene, laying location, and egg quality: the effects of linings and litter provision in furnished cages for laying hens.

This study investigates the influence of litter provision and linings used for nests and pecking and scratching areas on cage hygiene, laying location, and egg quality. Research was carried out in furnished cages, each housing 60 beak-trimmed ISA Brown hens. Four different treatments were compared in a factorial arrangement, including 2 different nest linings (artificial turf vs. plastic mesh),...

Behavior of laying hens on alfalfa crumble molt diets.

Several dietary alternatives to feed withdrawal have been proposed to induce a molt in laying hens. This study compared the behavior of laying hens on an alfalfa crumble diet (ALC) to hens that were either on a conventional layer diet (FF) or hens that had feed withdrawn (FW) during a 9-d trial. Each treatment consisted of 24 hens (3 hens per battery cage), and treatment began after a 2-week ac...

Ranging Behaviour of Commercial Free-Range Laying Hens.

In this study, the range use and behaviour of laying hens in commercial free-range flocks was explored. Six flocks were each visited on four separate days and data collected from their outdoor area (divided into zones based on distance from shed and available resources). These were: apron (0-10 m from shed normally without cover or other enrichments); enriched belt (10-50 m from shed where reso...
