A Novel Sulfated Glycoprotein Elicitor Extracted from the Moroccan Green Seaweed Codium decorticatum Induces Natural Defenses in Tomato

چکیده
Sulfated glycoproteins extracted for the first time from Moroccan green seaweed Codium decorticatum were investigated their ability to induce a natural defense metabolism in roots and upper leaves of tomato seedlings. The crude (AGB) purified fractions (AGP) characterized chemically (Colorimetric assays) structurally (SEC-MALS, GC-EI/MS, ATR-FTIR). elicitor aqueous solutions (1 g/L) applied by foliar spray syringe infiltration into internodal middle 45-day-old Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) activity, polyphenols, lignin contents measured after 0 h, 12, 24, 48, 72 h treatment. AGB AGP extracts contained 37.67% 48.38% total carbohydrates, respectively, mainly composed galactose, glucose, arabinose, minor amount xylose rhamnose. They an important molecular weight (Mw) > 2000 × 103 g·mol−1 high degree sulfation protein (12–23% (w/w)), indicating that polysaccharides could be arabinogalactan-rich present cell wall C. decorticatum. Both exhibited effect inducing PAL accumulation phenolic compounds These responses systemic both methods used (injection spray) mobilized throughout tissues are not directly treated (roots and/or leaves). Regarding activities, presented globally similar patterns, which revealed importance stimulation plant immunity. results suggest new application sulfated glycoprotein isolated agriculture as inducers defenses plants.

Cell Wall Variability in the Green Seaweed Codium Vermilara (bryopsidales Chlorophyta) from the Argentine Coast(1).
Cell wall chemistry in the coencocytic green seaweed Codium vermilara (Olivi) Delle Chiaje (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta) is well understood. These cell walls are composed of major amounts of neutral β-(1→4)-D-mannans (Mn), sulfated polysaccharides (SPs), which include pyranosic arabinan sulfates (ArpS), pyruvylated galactan sulfates (pGaS), and mannan sulfates (MnS); also minor amounts of O-glyco...
متن کاملAntinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of a sulfated polysaccharide isolated from the green seaweed Caulerpa cupressoides.
BACKGROUND Red and brown algae sulfated polysaccharides (SPs) have been widely investigated as antinociceptive and/or anti-inflammatory agents; however, no description of these biological properties concerning green algae SPs have been reported. Caulerpa curpressoides (Chlorophyta) presents three SPs fractions (Cc-SP1, Cc-SP2, and Cc-SP3). Anticoagulant (in vitro) and anti- and pro-thrombotic (...
متن کامل[Neuroprotective effects of sulfated polysaccharides from seaweed].
Currently, neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) occupy a significant place in the structure of disease of the elderly, which dictates the need to find new and effective treatment and prevention of this pathology. At the heart of NDD development is a violation of the metabolism and the conformational change of cellular proteins with subsequent accumulation and aggregation of their in certain groups ...
متن کاملChemical structure and antiviral activity of the sulfated heterorhamnan isolated from the green seaweed Gayralia oxysperma.
A homogeneous sulfated heterorhamnan was obtained by aqueous extraction, then by ultrafiltration from the green seaweed Gayralia oxysperma. Besides alpha-L-rhamnose it contains glucuronic and galacturonic acids, xylose and glucose. The structure was established by methylation analyses of the carboxyl-reduced, carboxyl-reduced/desulfated, carboxyl-reduced/Smith-degraded, and carboxyl-reduced/Smi...
متن کاملAnti-angiogenic effect of siphonaxanthin from green alga, Codium fragile.
Since anti-angiogenic therapy has becoming a promising approach in the prevention of cancer and related diseases, the present study was aimed to examine the anti-angiogenic effect of siphonaxanthin from green alga (Codium fragile) in cell culture model systems and ex vivo approaches using human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and rat aortic ring, respectively. Siphonaxanthin significa...
