A novel low temperature synthesis of sodium silicate (water glass) from silica-rich wastes using hydrothermal method

This present work aims at synthesizing sodium silicate solutions from selected industrial wastes (waste glass and rice husks) using hydrothermal method. The as-received waste glasses of different mix colors were initially washed, crushed wet milled for several hours then sieved through 75µm mesh. recycled oven dried 110oC 72 h to obtain a powdered (SLSG). Rice husks also washed remove dirt adherence dried. thermally treated in muffle furnace 800oC 1 left cool whitish husk ash (RHA). Both SLSG RHA reacted with NaOH solution varying concentration 3M, 4M 5M respectively 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask. mixtures heated continuous stirring magnetic stirrer temperatures 150oC, 170oC 200oC reaction period 4 h. Analyses carried out on the synthesized solutions. results obtained analyses showed possessed high viscosity while SiO2/Na2O ratio they are commercial disilicates which indicates products all

We propose a new method using coarse-graining and molecular dynamics to calculate structural and mechanical properties for sodium silicate glasses at different scales.
