A Novel Electrochemical Sensing Platform for the Sensitive Detection and Degradation Monitoring of Methylene Blue

Methylene blue is a toxic dye that extensively used as colorant in textile industries. Industrial effluent containing methylene blue, when drained into water bodies without proper treatment, poses serious threat to aquatic and human lives. In order protect the biocycle, various methods have been established detect remove hazardous dyes from aqueous systems. Electrochemical are preferred, owing their characteristic features of simplicity, portability, potential selectivity, cost effectiveness, rapid responsiveness. Based on these considerations, an electrochemical sensor consisting amino-group-functionalized, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (NH2-fMWCNTs) immobilized glassy electrode (GCE) was developed for sensitive detection solutions. The performance designed analyzed by impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, square wave voltammetry. sensing tool demonstrated promising sensitivity, stability, fast responsiveness, ability work with very small volume analyte, i.e., microliters, analysis. Amino groups rich electrons provide negative charge nanotubes, which significantly enhances electrocatalytic activity NH2-fMWCNTs cationic such blue. Using platform, linear calibration plot limit 0.21 nM obtained under optimized conditions. also employed monitor extent kinetics degradation Titania nanoparticles were photocatalytic degradation, monitored both UV-Visible spectroscopic methods. results revealed more than 95% removal time span just 30 min.
