A Novel Diagnosis Method for Void Defects in HVDC Mass-Impregnated PPLP Cable Based on Partial Discharge Measurement

Mass Impregnated PPLP cable, which is applied to various high-voltage direct current (HVDC) projects due its excellent dielectric and temperature properties, has a problem wherein voids are formed inside the butt-gap cavitation. However, there been no previous research into technology for void defect identification insulation diagnosis on HVDC MI-PPLP cables. In this paper, propose an method defects in (DC) discharge patterns were analyzed according specimen magnitude of voltage using pulse sequence analysis method. addition, confirm pre-symptoms breakdown cable DC discharge, partial continuously until occurred. From experimental results, same shape obtained regardless voltage. it was confirmed that new aging generated as electrical thermal occurred continuous discharge. Therefore, demonstrated possible through patterns.
