A Novel Design of Audio CAPTCHA for Visually Impaired Users

CAPTCHAs are widely used by web applications for the purpose of security and privacy. However, traditional text-based not suitable sighted users much less with visual impairments. To address issue, this paper proposes a new mechanism CAPTCHA called HearAct, which is real-time audio-based that enables easy access The user listens to sound something (the “sound-maker”), he/she must identify what sound-maker is. After that, HearAct identifies word requires analyze determine whether it has stated letter or not. If letter, tap if not, they swipe. This presents our pilot study conducted thirteen blind users. preliminary results suggest form lot potential both also show can be solved in shorter time than because allows solve using gestures instead typing. Thus, participants preferred over CAPTCHAs. success rate solving 82.05% 43.58% audio CAPTCHA. A significant usability differences between System Usability score method was 88.07 compared 52.11%.
