چکیده
Abstract Although easily scalable, the production of graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) by means liquid‐phase exfoliation graphite flakes (GF) remains an energy‐ and time‐intensive process. In this work, we demonstrate that significant time energy can be saved in GNP when employing expanded (EG) a surfactant‐assisted liquid phase Owing to its increased interlayer distance, EG accomplished much shorter (<30 min) compared GF (approximately 7 h present case). Moreover, required for is close 80‐fold lower than exfoliation. Monitoring mean lateral dimension, specific surface area, flake‐to‐GNP transition during was performed experimentally using several analytical techniques. The EG‐derived GNPs are produced faster require less GF, thus making it more efficient alternative technique.

متن کاملLiquid-phase Exfoliation of Graphite to Produce High-quality Graphene
Graphene has attracted intense interest due to its exceptional physical and chemical properties as well as its wide potential applications. For applications of two-dimensional graphene, commercially viable sources are necessary. Liquid-phase exfoliation graphite is one of the most promising economical mothed for the mass production of graphene. A number of methods have been developed to achieve...
متن کاملHigh-yield production of graphene by liquid-phase exfoliation of graphite.
Fully exploiting the properties of graphene will require a method for the mass production of this remarkable material. Two main routes are possible: large-scale growth or large-scale exfoliation. Here, we demonstrate graphene dispersions with concentrations up to approximately 0.01 mg ml(-1), produced by dispersion and exfoliation of graphite in organic solvents such as N-methyl-pyrrolidone. Th...
متن کاملSurfactant mediated liquid phase exfoliation of graphene
Commercialization of graphene based applications inevitably requires cost effective mass production. From the early days of research on graphene, direct liquid phase exfoliation (LPE) of graphite has been considered as the most promising strategy to produce high-quality mono or few-layer graphene sheets in solvent dispersion forms. Substantial success has been achieved thus far in the LPE of gr...
متن کاملExfoliation of graphene sheets via high energy wet milling of graphite in 2-ethylhexanol and kerosene
Graphene sheets have been exfoliated from bulk graphite using high energy wet milling in two different solvents that were 2-ethylhexanol and kerosene. The milling process was performed for 60 h using a planetary ball mill. Morphological characteristics were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). On the other hand, the structural charact...
