A nonproteinaceous Fusarium cell wall extract triggers receptor‐like protein‐dependent immune responses in Arabidopsis and cotton

چکیده

Fusarium wilt caused by the ascomycete fungus oxysporum is a devastating disease of many economically important crops. The mechanisms underlying plant responses to F. infections remain largely unknown. We demonstrate here that water-soluble, heat-resistant and nonproteinaceous cell wall extract (FoCWE) component from multiple isolates functions as race-nonspecific elicitor, also termed pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP). FoCWE triggers several demonstrated immune responses, including mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase phosphorylation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst, ethylene production, stomatal closure, in cotton Arabidopsis. Pretreated protects seeds against virulent f. sp. vasinfectum (Fov), Arabidopsis plants bacterium, Pseudomonas syringae, suggesting potential application FoCWEs crop protection. Host-mediated do not appear require LYKs/CERK1, BAK1 or SOBIR1, which are commonly involved PAMP perception and/or signalling. However, resistance partially two receptor-like proteins, GhRLP20 GhRLP31. Transcriptome analysis suggests preferentially activates wall-mediated defence, Fov has evolved virulence suppress FoCWE-induced defence. These findings suggest classical potentially recognised novel pattern-recognition receptor regulate infections.

Loss of the Arabidopsis Protein Kinases ANPs Affects Root Cell Wall Composition, and Triggers the Cell Wall Damage Syndrome

The Arabidopsis NPK1-related Protein kinases ANP1, ANP2 and ANP3 belong to the MAP kinase kinase kinase (MAPKKK) superfamily and were previously described to be crucial for cytokinesis, elicitor-induced immunity and development. Here we investigate the basis of their role in development by using conditional β-estradiol-inducible triple mutants to overcome lethality. In seedlings, lack of ANPs c...

Allogeneic Red Blood Cell Transfusion Following the Total Hip Arthroplasty Triggers the Immunomodulatory Responses

Background and Aims: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a common orthopedic surgery. The main focus in the research of THA is immune responses in these patients following the blood transfusion. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the immune modulation indexes such as T cell amplification, Tcell surface markers and also production of cytokines in the patients undergoing THA surgery following bloo...

BcXYG1, a Secreted Xyloglucanase from Botrytis cinerea, Triggers Both Cell Death and Plant Immune Responses.

In search of Botrytis cinerea cell death-inducing proteins, we found a xyloglucanase (BcXYG1) that induced strong necrosis and a resistance response in dicot plants. Expression of the BcXYG1 gene was strongly induced during the first 12 h post inoculation, and analysis of disease dynamics using PathTrack showed that a B. cinerea strain overexpressing BcXYG1 produced early local necrosis, suppor...

Oviposition by pierid butterflies triggers defense responses in Arabidopsis.

Insect eggs represent a threat for the plant as hatching larvae rapidly start with their feeding activity. Using a whole-genome microarray, we studied the expression profile of Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) leaves after oviposition by two pierid butterflies. For Pieris brassicae, the deposition of egg batches changed the expression of hundreds of genes over a period of 3 d after ovipositio...
