A new report of the stenopodid shrimp Stenopus devaneyi Goy, 1984 from the Western Indian Ocean

The rare stenopodid shrimp, Stenopus devaneyi Goy, 1984, is reported for the first time in Western Indian Ocean (WIO), at 60 m depth Mayotte Island. No specimens were collected but species recognized confidently on photographs based its characteristic colour pattern: two large red spots sides of second abdominal somite. Selected photos are presented. Former Indo-West-Pacific records listed with an updated map geographic distribution this shrimp. A few ecological observations made.
