A new method to identify the position-independent geometric errors in the rotary axes of five-axis machine tools

Position-independent geometric errors (PIGEs), caused by assembly imperfection, affect the machine tool's accuracy. Moreover, rotary axes of five-axis tools introduce more PIGEs during parts machining, hence, need to identify them improve However, identification centerlines and use extension bars, using double ball bar (DBB), additional setup uncertainties error measurements sometimes make process tedious. This work proposes a new method eight (8) in tool with tilting table. The homogeneous transformation matrix (HTM) was used construct relative motion established coordinate systems then deduced model. Three different DBB installation setups were employed for both planar test, recorded length data substituted into model obtain PIGEs. results show that proposed is accurate can accuracy effectively, this has some advantages over existing methods terms simplicity which shows good improvement manufacturing industry.
