A new method for dividing flood period in the variable-parameter Muskingum models

Abstract The Muskingum routing model is favored by water engineers owing to its simplicity and accuracy. A large amount of research done improve the accuracy model. One way do so consider variable hydrological parameters during flood period. In this study, random selection (RS) method was proposed divide period nonlinear into three sub-periods. based on RS members in each sub-region. It applied rout hydrographs, objective function sum squared errors. Comparing results from variable-parameter with those models previous studies, optimized these hydrographs up 61%. uncertainty analysis for Wilson's hydrograph performed fuzzy alpha cut method, it found that parameter x greater than k m.
