Abstract. The semi-active torsional vibration absorber can effectively reduce the of power-train system. In this paper, a new type variable stiffness with magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) as an intelligent controlling element is designed, and modal analysis, frequency-tracking scheme, damping effects have been studied. A transient dynamic simulation utilized to validate rationality mechanical structure, magnetic field parameters are matched, circuit analysis supply carried out verify closed circuit. principle prototype innovative manufactured, strength tested by Gauss meter, results show efficacy magnetizing conductive slip ring solving problem rotating parts absorber. special-purpose test rig exciter power source has implemented. comparative experiment frequency shift characteristics authenticate vibration-reduction effect MRE
