A New Iron Loss Model for Brushless Doubly-Fed Machines With Hysteresis and Field Rotational Losses

The brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) has two stator windings with different pole numbers, supplied frequencies. Therefore, the distribution of magnetic fields in and rotor iron is complex. In addition, flux density non-sinusoidal a DC offset at natural speed. This makes use conventional hysteresis models utilised for sinusoidal impractical BDFM. this paper new model proposed BDFM based on scalar Preisach model. rotational characteristics are also considered their effects generating losses assessed. 2-D time-stepping finite element (FE) developed prototype D160 to estimate validated by experiments.
