A new genus from Madagascar with strongly enlarged labium (Ephemeroptera, Baetidae)

A new genus of Baetidae, Megalabiops gen. nov. , and a species, M. madagasikara sp. are described from Madagascar based on nymphs. The is characterized by having strongly enlarged mentum; pedicelli with many long, stout, pointed setae; brush dense, short setae between prostheca mola both mandibles; an apically maxillary palp stout seta at the tip; labium simple ventrally glossae. patellotibial suture absent fore tibia present middle hind tibiae. claw elongated two rows denticles. imago remains unknown relationships other African genera Baetidae tentative. Despite being easily identifiable, only nymphs were found in highly sampled localities Madagascar.
