A new diophantine equation involving fifth powers

چکیده

In this paper we obtain a parametric solution of the hitherto unsolved diophantine equation $(x_1^5+x_2^5)(x_3^5+x_4^5)=(y_1^5+y_2^5)(y_3^5+y_4^5)$. Further, show, using elliptic curves, that there exist infinitely many solutions aforementioned equation, and they can be effectively computed.

with integers m1, m2; henceforth, [θ] denotes the integral part of θ. Subsequently, the range for c in this result was extended by Gritsenko [3] and Konyagin [5]. In particular, the latter author showed that (1) has solutions in integers m1, m2 for 1 < c < 3 2 and n sufficiently large. The analogous problem with prime variables is considerably more difficult, possibly at least as difficult as t...

A Superelliptic Equation Involving Alternating Sums of Powers

In this short note, we solve completely the Diophantine equation 1 − 3 + 5 − · · · + (4x− 3) − (4x− 1) = −y, for 3 ≤ k ≤ 6. This may be viewed as a “character-twisted” analogue of a classic equation of Schaffer (in which context, it was previously considered by Dilcher). In our proof, we appeal primarily to techniques based upon the modularity of Galois representations and, in particular, to a ...

Indeed, on putting u = 2/i 1 and v = 2m 3, we see at once that Theorem 1 follows from the following result. THEOREM 2. The only (u, v) e Z with ...

About a Diophantine Equation

In this paper we study the Diophantine equation x −6xy +5y = 16Fn−1Fn+1, where (Fn) n≥0 is the Fibonacci sequence and we find a class of such equations having solutions which are determined.
