A New Computational Tool for the Development of Advanced Exergy Analysis and LCA on Single Effect LiBr–H2O Solar Absorption Refrigeration System

A single effect LiBr–H2O absorption refrigeration system coupled with a solar collector and storage tank was studied to develop an assessment tool using the built-in App Designer in MATLAB®. The model is developed balances of mass, energy, species conservation components cooling system, taking into account external streams through temperature pressure drop. whole energy harvesting arrangement, modeled for 24 h operation changes on hourly basis based ambient temperature, load demand, irradiation, which measured recorded by national weather institutes sources. Test simulations validation procedures are carried out acknowledged scientific articles. These show 2.65% maximum relative error analysis respect cited authors. environmental conditions used study were evaluated Barranquilla, Colombia, datasets Institute Hydrology, Meteorology Environmental Studies (IDEAM), considering multiannual average irradiation. This allowed authors obtain behavior surface water tank, COP, exergy efficiency system. also stated generator as biggest source irreversibility around 45.53% total destruction inner cycle without array, case array would present most destruction.
