A SCUBA survey of the NGC 2068/2071 protoclusters
We report the results of a submillimeter dust continuum survey of the protoclusters NGC 2068 and NGC 2071 in Orion B carried out at 850μm and 450μm with SCUBA on JCMT. The mapped region is ∼ 32′×18′ in size (∼ 4 pc × 2 pc) and consists of filamentary dense cores which break up into small-scale (∼ 5 000 AU) fragments, including 70 starless condensations and 5 circumstellar envelopes/disks. The s...
متن کاملNear-Infrared Imaging Polarimetry of the NGC 2071 Star Forming Region with SIRPOL
We have conducted deep JHKs imaging polarimetry of a ∼8 × 8 area of the NGC 2071 star forming region. Our polarization data have revealed various infrared reflection nebulae (IRNe) associated with the central IR young star cluster NGC2071IR and identified their illuminating sources. There are at least 4 IRNe in NGC2071IR and several additional IRNe are identified around nearby young stars in th...
متن کاملHard X - rays and Fluorescent Iron Emission from the Embedded Infrared Cluster in NGC 2071
We present first results of XMM-Newton X-ray observations of the infrared cluster lying near the NGC 2071 reflection nebula in the Orion B region. This cluster is of interest because it is one of the closest regions known to harbor embedded high-mass stars. We report the discovery of hard X-ray emission from the dense central NGC 2071-IR subgroup which contains at least three high-mass young st...

متن کاملA new luminous supersoft X - ray source in NGC 300
Context. We report the discovery of a new luminous supersoft source, XMMU J005455.0−374117, in the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 300, in XMM-Newton observations performed on 2005 May 22 and on 2005 November 25. The source is not present in ROSAT data nor in the previous XMM-Newton observations of 2000 December/2001 January. The unique luminous supersoft source, XMMU J005510.7−373855, detected in the...
