A multi-phase mesoscopic simulation model for the long-term chloride ingress and electrochemical chloride extraction

Electrochemical chloride extraction (ECE) is one of the effective methods to remove and prolong service life reinforced concrete (RC) structures. To fully understand mechanisms long-term ingress subsequent ECE treatment RC structure, a multi-phase mesoscopic numerical model proposed. Unlike most existing models, effect binding are considered in proposed model, transport simulated through novel diffusion-migration-reaction process. The simulation results show that adsorption capacity decreases with increase time. Interestingly, free concentration on surface dramatically, maximum value appears protective cover after treatment. Furthermore, time, current density have significant influences efficiency. Besides, quantitative relationship models between these factors efficiency been developed. Moreover, use stirrup can improve research outcomes reveal previously ignored fundamental aspects provide insights for durability prediction
