چکیده

Abstract Uncertainty in the wide-angle point-spread function (PSF) at large angles (tens of arcseconds and beyond) is one dominant sources error a number important quantities observational astronomy. Examples include stellar mass shape galactic halos maximum extent starlight disks nearby galaxies. However, modeling PSF has long been challenge astronomical imaging. In this paper, we present self-consistent method to model images. Scattered light from multiple bright stars fitted simultaneously with background characterize extended wing using Bayesian framework operating on pixel-by-pixel level. The demonstrated our software elderflower applied data Dragonfly Telephoto Array its out 20′–25′. We compare that other telescopes, including SDSS show that, scales arcminutes, scattered markedly lower than wide-field imaging telescopes. energy wings sufficiently low optical cleanliness plays an role defining PSF. This component can be modeled accurately, highlighting power self-contained approach.

The wide-angle point spread function of the human eye reconstructed by a new optical method.

The point spread function (PSF) of the human eye spans over a wide angular distribution where the central part is associated mostly to optical aberrations while the peripheral zones are associated to light scattering. There is a plethora of optical methods for the direct and indirect measurements of the central part of the PSF as a result of monochromatic and polychromatic aberrations. The impa...

Polarization Aberrations in Astronomical Telescopes: The Point Spread Function

Detailed knowledge of the image of the point spread function (PSF) is necessary to optimize astronomical coronagraph masks and to understand potential sources of errors in astrometric measurements. The PSF for astronomical telescopes and instruments depends not only on geometric aberrations and scalar wave diffraction but also on those wavefront errors introduced by the physical optics and the ...

Accounting for the anisoplanatic point spread function in deep wide - field adaptive optics images ⋆

In this paper we present the approach we have used to determine and account for the anisoplanatic point spread function (PSF) in deep adaptive optics (AO) images for the Survey of a Wide Area with NACO (SWAN) at the ESO VLT. The survey comprises adaptive optics observations in the Ks band totaling ∼ 30 arcmin , assembled from 42 discrete fields centered on different bright stars suitable for AO...
