چکیده
The measurement of respiratory sinus arrythmia (RSA) in infants, children and adults is critical to the study physiological regulation, more recently, interpersonal covariation, but it has been impeded by methods that limit its resolution 30 s or longer. Recent analytical developments have suggested for studying dynamic RSA adults, we extended this work infants mothers. In current paper, describe a new strategy estimating time series adults. Our method provides means synchrony infant-mother dyads offers some important advantages relative existing use inter-beat-intervals (e.g. Feldman, Magori-Cohen, Galili, Singer, & Louzoun, 2011). middle sections offer brief tutorial on calculating continuously with sliding window review empirical evidence determining optimal size. order confirm reliability our results, briefly discuss testing randomly shuffling control spurious correlations, also using bootstrapping technique confidence intervals cross-correlation function. One implication emerges from applying possible measure both positive negative these categorical measures are differentially predictive future outcomes.

Associations between respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) reactivity and effortful control in preschool-age children.
We tested whether respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) reactivity in response to each of three self-regulation tasks (bird and dragon; knock-tap; and gift wrap) would predict self-regulation performance in a sample of 101 preschool-age children (M age = 4.49, SD = .64). While controlling for baseline RSA, decreases in RSA from bird and dragon to knock-tap (but not from baseline to bird and dragon...

Background. The development of a microcomputer-based device permits quick, simple, and noninvasive quantification of the respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) during quiet breathing. Methods and Results. We prospectively and serially measured the radionuclide left ventricular ejection fraction and the RSA amplitude in 34 cancer patients receiving up to nine monthly bolus treatments with doxorubici...
متن کاملRespiratory sinus arrhythmia responses to cognitive tasks: effects of task factors and RSA indices.
Many studies show that respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) decreases while performing cognitive tasks. However, there is uncertainty about the role of contaminating factors such as physical activity and stress-inducing task variables. Different methods to quantify RSA may also contribute to variable results. In 83 healthy subjects, we studied RSA responses to a working memory task requiring vary...
متن کاملRespiratory control when measuring respiratory sinus arrhythmia during a talking task.
The current study explored the effects of talking on respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) during a semi-structured emotional interview (Adult Attachment Interview) using 76 female undergraduates. The effectiveness of 2 different methodological approaches (i.e. talking baseline or transfer function) was explored as respiratory control during talking tasks. RSA was collected during resting baseline...
متن کاملDoes respiratory sinus arrhythmia occur in fishes?
The hypothesis that respiratory modulation of heart rate variability (HRV) or respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) is restricted to mammals was tested on four Antarctic and four sub-Antarctic species of fish, that shared close genotypic or ecotypic similarities but, due to their different environmental temperatures, faced vastly different selection pressures related to oxygen supply. The intrinsi...
