A Low Q Three-Phase Series Resonant Converter for PV Applications

In this paper, a soft-switched three-phase resonant converter with low quality factor (Q) design is proposed for Photovoltaic (PV) energy harvesting systems very wide range of operating conditions. Due to the (Q ≤ 1), voltage stress across capacitors drastically reduced. However, major challenge using Q switching frequency required operation over load and input order reduce range, paper introduces hybrid modulation technique employing asymmetric pulse width (APWM) along variable modulation. The scheme also substantially extends soft-switching from full-load upto 10–35% condition line voltages. To sustain in entire region converter, operated structure single-phase burst modes at light A comprehensive time-domain analysis presented, which greatly improves accuracy conventional frequency-domain modeling. Experimental results 1 kW prototype are presented verify performance validate theoretical analysis.
