چکیده
Dam break flows and resulting river bed erosion can have disastrous impacts on human safety, infrastructure, environmental quality. However, there is a lack of research the mobility non-uniform sediment mixtures from dam how these differ uniform sized sediment. In this paper, laboratory flume experiments revealed that coarse fine fractions in had higher lower bed-load parameter, respectively, than sediments same size. Thus, finer were more stable coarser erodible compared to uniform-grained bed. These differences be explained by hiding protrusion fractions, respectively. By investigating changes mixed-size with reservoir water levels, results at low when only just mobile, parameter was fractions. The opposite observed level, significant proportion coarsest mobilized. grains an important effect their relative grains. transported mixed-sized beds initial sediment, became increase level.

Experimental Investigation of Flash Flood Resulting from Dam-Break on Bed Sediment Transport
Varied flows such as flooding resulting from dam break can happen due to earthquakes, seepage, bombing, overtopping, mistake in design and project performance as well as causing financial damages and human losses. Unsteady flow during flooding events has a high impact on flow field pattern, sediment motion, ecology and also, distribution of contamination in the river. In this study, the impact ...
متن کاملA general power equation for predicting bed load transport rates in gravel bed rivers
[1] A variety of formulae has been developed to predict bed load transport in gravel bed rivers, ranging from simple regressions to complex multiparameter formulations. The ability to test these formulae across numerous field sites has, until recently, been hampered by a paucity of bed load transport data for gravel bed rivers. We use 2104 bed load transport observations in 24 gravel bed rivers...
متن کاملVariation in the reference Shields stress for bed load transport in gravel-bed streams and rivers
[1] The present study examines variations in the reference shear stress for bed load transport (tr) using coupled measurements of flow and bed load transport in 45 gravel-bed streams and rivers. The study streams encompass a wide range in bank-full discharge (1–2600 m/s), average channel gradient (0.0003–0.05), and median surface grain size (0.027–0.21 m). A bed load transport relation was form...
متن کاملPartial Transport in a Natural Gravel-bed Channel
[1] Partial transport is documented in the gravel bed channel of Carnation Creek using magnetically tagged stones. For four flood peaks the active proportion of surface grains was used to map streambed areas into distinct units of three different levels of grain entrainment. In partially mobile regions of the bed, the active proportion of surface grains declines with grain size. As flow increas...
متن کاملFormation of a sandy near-bed transport layer from a fine-grained bed under oscillatory flow
[1] Bed surface coarsening was found to be an important effect for the formation of ripples and the dynamics of the boundary layer above a predominantly silt-sized sediment bed (median particle size equal to 26 mm; 20% fine sand, 70% silt, 10% clay) under oscillatory flow (with orbital velocities of 0.32–0.52 m/s) in a laboratory wave duct. Following bed liquefaction, substantial winnowing of t...
