A Healable Resistive Heater as a Stimuli-Providing System in Self-Healing Soft Robots

Self-healing polymers can address the damage susceptibility in soft robotics. However, most cases, their healing requires a heat stimulus, provided by an external device. This letter presents self-healing actuator with integrated healable flexible heater, functioning as stimuli-providing system. The is constructed out of thermoreversible elastomers that are crosslinked Diels-Alder (DA) reaction, which provides ability. heater manufactured from DA-based composite network filled 20 wt% carbon black to provide electrically conductive properties for resistive Joule heating. flexibility does not compromise performance upon integration and both allow repair. includes very large damages, recover (near 100%) being cut completely two pieces, using heating at 90°C bias voltage about 30 V. embedded avoids need intervention process, quality assessment on-demand mechanism, paving way optimum solution resilient robots require stimulus.
