چکیده
This work aims to determine natural radionuclides (210Pb, 228,226Ra, 234,228Th and 40K) in NORM samples by well-type HPGe detectors because they are of vital importance studies on environmental samples. For this, a novel methodology has been developed, based obtaining general function for the full-energy peak efficiency (FEPE) versus sample apparent density composition, keeping height constant. To obtain FEPE function, calibration accomplished using certified standards provided IAEA (RGU-1 RGTh-1), KCl. Besides, different self-absorption correction functions were compared cylindrical geometry, where chemical compositions need be known. Then, study an anti-Compton system was done, getting lower detection limit allowing propose gamma spectrometry as alternative technique alpha-particle spectrometry. Finally, followed calculate subjected internal external validations, checking its validity range.

Surface projection of HPGe- detectors
Several encapsulated single Germanium detectors have been mounted in one unit and integrated in a cryostat, in order to build efficient spectrometers to detect γ radiation emitted by nuclei excited in nuclear reactions. This kind of crystal encapsulation offer advantages compared to standard set-up of HPGedetectors. The basic aim of the following work is to develop a new capsule technology, in ...
متن کاملDetermination of Primordial Radionuclides in Natural Samples Using HPGe Gamma-Ray Spectrometry
Distributions of primordial radionuclides in soil and vegetables were investigated using high-purity germanium gamma-ray spectrometry. Gamma-ray spectrometry is one of the most accepted and widely used techniques for the detection and analysis of radioactive materials for a wide range of activity. Important properties of the employed gamma-ray detector were also determined to ensure the accurac...

متن کاملMONTE CARLO SIMULATION OF P-TYPE HPGe DETECTORS – THE DEAD LAYER PROBLEM
The Monte Carlo method is increasingly applied for simulation of germanium detectors. It can be successfully used for the evaluation of full energy peak efficiency or of the efficiency corrections due to self-attenuation, coincidence summing and geometry effects. Usually the simulation task is to evaluate the energy deposited in the sensitive volume of the detector, assuming that the detector s...
