The general formulation of the dynamics an elastic body undergoing arbitrary motion is revisited with emphasis on orthogonality between rigid and deformation one hand, appropriate definition relative velocities induced by other hand. A mixed displacement–velocity approach adopted, thus allowing a local frame which results in simplification discretization solution steps. proposed applied to model reduction starting from set free-free modes attachment modes. Herting–Martinez component mode synthesis method used replace modal intensities body-frame nodal degrees freedom. body-to-global transformation then system equations incremental form avoid use Lagrange multipliers for expressing node-to-node connections. Examples are presented assess methodology its numerical implementation.
