A fractional-order model for calendar aging with dynamic storage conditions

Due to the increasing importance of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicle and renewable energy applications, battery aging is a subject intense research. Although many laboratory experiments are performed under well-controlled static conditions, stored operated varying conditions temperature state charge their real-life performance, so that suitable model for predicting effects calendar with dynamic highly desirable. In this paper, we review previous models calculate capacity loss due variable state-of-charge according experimentally observed power-law behavior, propose novel based on fractional calculus. To validate new model, compare its predictions experimental results showing it can reproduce non-monotonic behavior when or change significantly. This an interesting application calculus since characteristic not obtained non-fractional models.
