A Fractional Order Controller for Sensorless Speed Control of an Induction Motor

Agriculture activities are completely dependent upon energy production worldwide. This research presents sensorless speed control of a three-phase induction motor aided with an extended Kalman filter (EKF). Although proportional integral (PI) controller can ensure tracking the rotor speed, considerable magnitude ripples is present in torque generated by motor. Adding simple derivative to have (PID) action cause further increase ripple magnitude, as it allows addition high-frequency noise system. Therefore, fractional-order-based PID presented. The proposed scheme applied closed loop system, and simulation results compared controller. It evident from that fractional order not only ensures 20 times faster tracking, but was also reduced factor 50% while using effectiveness strategy.
