A Flexible and Polymer?Based Chemiresistive CO <sub>2</sub> Gas Sensor at Room Temperature

CO2 sensing is important in many applications ranging from air-quality monitoring to food packaging. In this study, an amine-functionalized copolymer, poly(N-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-methacrylamide-co-2-N-morpholinoethyl methacrylate) (p(D-co-M)) synthesized, offering moderate basicity suitable for a wide detection range. Taking advantage of characteristic p(D-co-M), polymer used designing chemiresistive, low-cost, flexible, and reversible sensor. The p(D-co-M)-based sensors show noticeable decrease their direct current resistance alternating impedance upon exposure range concentration (1–100%) at room temperature with response recovery time 6 14 min, respectively. Additionally, the demonstrate favorable selectivity presence interfering gases including methanol, ethanol, toluene, acetone. Surface potential measurements increase +6.34 V humidity CO2, indicating protonation polymer's amine sites, facilitating wet environment. This sensor efficient detecting released during fermentation kimchi as model.
