چکیده
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a fast and bare bones implementation numerical method for quickly simulating turbulent thermal flows on GPUs. work also validates earlier research showing that the lattice Boltzmann (LBM) suitable complex flows. Design/methodology/approach A dual hydrodynamic (D3Q27) (D3Q7) multiple-relaxation time LBM model capable DNS calculations implemented in CUDA. Findings has same computational performance compared publications similar solvers. solver validated against three benchmark cases flow with available data shown be excellent agreement. Originality/value combination D3Q27 D3Q7 stencil multiple relaxation -LBM has, authors’ knowledge, not been used simulations code made public repository under free license.

Double MRT thermal lattice Boltzmann method for simulating convective flows
a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t A two-dimensional double Multiple Relaxation Time-Thermal Lattice Boltzmann Equation (2-MRT-TLBE) method is developed for predicting convective flows in a square differentially heated cavity filled with air (Pr = 0.71). In this Letter, we propose a numerical scheme to solve the flow and the temperature fields using the MRT-D2Q9 model and the MRT-D2Q5 model,...
متن کاملLattice ellipsoidal statistical BGK model for thermal non- equilibrium flows
A thermal lattice Boltzmann model is constructed on the basis of the ellipsoidal statistical Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (ES-BGK) collision operator via the Hermite moment representation. The resulting lattice ES-BGK model uses a single distribution function and features an adjustable Prandtl number. Numerical simulations show that using a moderate discrete velocity set, this model can accurately rec...
متن کاملComparison of thermal scaling properties between turbulent pipe and channel flows via DNS
A systematic comparison of thermal scaling properties of pipe and channel flows is presented. DNS data are used to compute thermal statistics for friction Reynolds numbers of 180 and 395 and Prandtl numbers ranging between 0.025 and 7. A distinct four layer regime for the thermal field is clearly identified in both channel and pipe flows. The analysis reveals that the balance breaking and excha...

متن کاملA numerical method for DNS/LES of turbulent reacting flows
A spatially non-dissipative, implicit numerical method to simulate turbulent reacting flows over a range of Mach numbers, is described. The compressible Navier–Stokes equations are rescaled so that the zero Mach number equations are discretely recovered in the limit of zero Mach number. The dependent variables are co-located in space, and thermodynamic variables are staggered from velocity in t...
