A DRUG UTILIZATION STUDY OF ANTIMICROBIAL DRUGS AT TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL SOUTHERN RAJASTHAN

Background: Irrational usage and higher utilization of antimicrobial agents has become a major problem in all health care facilities over the world, further give rise to resistance. Inappropriate use antibacterial drugs may result increased adverse drug reaction also increase cost treatment. The aim study was evaluate or distribution pattern drugs. objective determine average number antibiotics prescribed per prescription, prescribing frequency, most commonly antibiotic. Method: present prospective done general medicine ward tertiary teaching hospital antibiotics. A total 208 patients were included study. Results: ratio male population is more as compared females age group (61-70) years. report shows that common class cephalosporin (45.01%) followed by penicillin (14.74%), quinolones(13.94%), macrolides (7.56%), tetracyclines (4.38%). Study reports (40.23%) prescription with ceftriaxone (monocef).
