A developed high-performance thin-layer chromatography method for the determination of baicalin in Oroxylum indicum L. and its antioxidant activity

A simple, accurate, precise, and specific high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) method for the quantitative determination validation of baicalin in different extracts Oroxylum indicum has been developed first time. The mobile phase acetone‒ethyl acetate‒water‒formic acid (2:10:0.5:0.5, V/V) was used achieving good separation. Densitometric carried out at 318 nm. calibration curves were found to be linear range between 200 1000 ng per spot. During analysis, ethanolic extract O. showed higher content than acetone, DMSO, DMF extracts. Further, antioxidant potential assessed with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. HPTLC validated specificity, accuracy, precision linearity. unveiled significant activity a percentage inhibition 67.34%.
