The seismicity of the southwestern Iberian Peninsula is moderate but large events with long return periods occur (≈ 200 years). This exceeds life various generations, making population unacquainted seismic hazard. On one hand, this results in a low demanding code which increases vulnerability and, therefore, risk. other local emergency services must be properly prepared to face destructive event, plans and mitigation strategies. assumption enhances need assessing risk Seville civil protection context.
