A correlative study of copper, ceruloplasmin, iron, total iron binding capacity and total antioxidant capacity in diabetic nephropathy

Introduction and Aim: Diabetic nephropathy is the common cause of final stage kidney disease. Studies on trace elements oxidant-antioxidant status in diabetes mellitus are required for establishing mechanisms involved pathogenesis diabetic complications, also to establish biomarkers addition conventional markers. The present study aimed assess correlate blood levels copper, iron, ceruloplasmin, total iron binding capacity (TIBC) antioxidant (TAC) patients comparison individuals without complications normal healthy controls. Materials Methods: subjects were, with (group 1), 2), controls 3). In serum samples all TIBC TAC were estimated by standard spectrophotometric methods. Results: Levels significantly higher was lower when compared controls, more pronounced changes seen no complications. There significant positive correlation among glycated hemoglobin, microalbumin or nephropathy. Serum Total showed negative HbA1c, microalbuminuria, Conclusion: could serve as diagnostic prognostic complimentary microalbuminuria haemoglobin. Monitoring oxidative stress be beneficial prevent
