A Comparison Review on Transmission Mode for Onshore Integration of Offshore Wind Farms: HVDC or HVAC

The development of offshore wind farms (WF) is inevitable as they have exceptional resistance against climate change and produce clean energy without hazardous wastes. WF usually has a bigger generation capacity with less environmental impacts, it more reliable too due to stronger consistent sea winds. early installations are located near the shore, whereas most modern far away from generating higher power. This paradigm shift forced researchers industry personnel look deeper into transmission options, namely, high voltage AC (HVAC) DC (HVDC). evaluation can be both in terms power carrying capability well cost comparisons. Additionally, different performance requirements such rating, onshore grid requirements, reactive compensation, etc., must considered for evaluation. paper elaborately reviews explains farm structure bulk transfer. Based on HVDC HVAC modes compared analyzed critically. Finally, criterion selection increasing popularity established.
