A Comparison of Transverse Palatal Width in Adult Untreated Cleft Palate Patients with Normal Adult Palates: A Pilot Study

Objective: The purpose of this pilot study is to compare the transverse palatal widths in untreated adult cleft palate patients with normal patients. Methods and Materials: was conducted Bangladesh recruiting 10 sized 15 palates. control group comprised 7 males 8 females a mean age 30.5 ± 4.4 years. affected 3 17 3.3 Alginate impressions maxillary arch were taken poured into plaster dental casts. inter-canine, inter-premolar intermolar measured evaluate growth pattern unoperated palate. Due small sample size, both independent T-test Mann Whitney non-parametric tests performed analyze statistical significance data. Results: According tests, width including first second premolars statistically significantly smaller p values 0.003 0.00 respectively. There no significant difference inter-canine between due variable canine position could be established. Conclusion: interpremolar palates than individuals
