چکیده
The extraction of essential oils from Lemongrass leaves (Cymbopogon nardus L.) has become more promising than ever before due to the oils' increasing demand in market addition dynamic breakthrough its technology advancement. This study presents a comparison two different methods microwave-assisted oil extraction, namely Microwave Hydrodistillation (MHD) and Solvent-Free Extraction (SFME), both which exhibit better quality terms recovery compared conventional methods. investigated effect time, microwave power, as well feed-to-distiller volume ratio (F/D). Experimental results suggest that although there is tendency increase yield along with turns out decrease at higher optimum power for MHD method being 420 W SFME 560 W. Smaller F/D ratios appear give yields smaller size material, obtained. produces but citronella method. Two first-order second-order kinetics models were methods, model was slightly representing experimental data based on RMSD R2 values. applies using respectively.

متن کاملEXTRACTION OF CITRONELLA (Cymbopogon nardus) ESSENTIAL OIL USING SUPERCRITICAL CO2: EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND MATHEMATICAL MODELING
Citronella essential oil has more than eighty components, of which the most important ones are citronellal, geranial and limonene. They are present at high concentrations in the oil and are responsible for the repellent properties of the oil. The oil was extracted using supercritical carbon dioxide due to the high selectivity of the solvent. The operational conditions studied varied from 313.15...
متن کاملChemical composition and in vitro antitrypanosomal activity of fractions of essential oil from Cymbopogon nardus L.
Essential oil from Cymbopogon nardus was evaluated for activity against Trypanosoma brucei brucei BS221 (IC50 = 0.31 ± 0.03 μg/mL) and cytotoxic effect on normal kidney (Vero) cells (IC50 = >100 μg/mL). The crude essential oil was subjected to various chromatography techniques afforded active sub fractions with antitrypanosomal activity; F4 (IC50 = 0.61 ± 0.06 μg/mL), F6 (IC50= 0.73 ± 0.33 μg/m...
متن کاملcomparison of microwave-assisted and hydrodistillation methods for extraction of essential oil from achillea millefolium
microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (mahd) method has been compared with hydrodistillation (hd) conventional technique for extraction of essential oil from achillea millefolium. microwave-assisted hydrodistillation were examined at three levels of microwave powers (300, 500, and 700 w) . obtained results show that mahd offers important advantages over hd in terms of energy savings and extr...
متن کاملSequential ultrasound-microwave assisted extraction as a green method to extract essential oil from Zataria multiflora
Sequential ultrasound-microwave associated extraction (SUMAE) is a combination of ultrasound waves and microwaves energies in which ultrasonic extraction is used as a pretreatment. It was performed to extract essential oil from Zataria multiflora. The extraction conditions were optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) and Central Composite Design (CCD). The antioxidant and antibacterial ...
