چکیده

Direct ground cooling is a method for buildings whereby free provided by circulating water through borehole heat exchangers (BHEs). Since no refrigeration involved, supply temperature to the building’s system dependent mainly on BHE sizing. This study investigates sizing of BHEs direct systems, with particular focus influence terminal unit types and their operating strategies. Experimental results using ground-coupled active chilled beam (ACB) are used develop simulation model an office building. The also modified thermally activated building systems (TABS). show that TABS instead ACBs similar reduced peak hourly loads, resulting in lower outlet temperature. Resizing depth reach maximum temperatures according actual extraction rate from resulted significantly shorter compared ACBs. However, indoor was generally warmer TABS, due slower room. findings practical analysing design operation different units.

Quality Control of Borehole Heat Exchanger Systems

The vast growing market for borehole heat exchangers (BHE’s) requires great efforts of quality assurance in design and construction. Within a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology a consortium consisting of the University of Applied Sciences at Biberach (UASB), the University of Karlsruhe (EIFER, GI) and the Bavarian Centre of Applied Energy Research...

Diagnosis of Heat Exchanger Scales in Cooling Water Systems

An experimental database is compiled in order to fingerprint the scales formed over the hot surfaces of heat exchangers, in cooling water systems or other systems with similar chemistry. To collect these data, a dynamic simulating pilot plant was designed with considerable application flexibility among which simultaneous flow of water with different velocity and heat fluxes to three simulat...

Heat exchanger technology and applications: ground source heat pump system for buildings heating and cooling

The earth’s surface acts as a huge solar collector, absorbing radiation from the sun. In the UK, the ground maintains a constant temperature of 11-13oC several metres below the surface all the year around.1 Among many other alternative energy resources and new potential technologies, the ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) are receiving increasing interest because of their potential to reduce prim...
