A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF USING CLASSWIDE PEER TUTORING TECHNIQUE AND STUDENT TEAM ACHIEVEMENT DEVISION TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION AT STATE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 TUALANG

The purpose of this study was to explore which strategy that required a teacher for better learning process in improving students’ reading comprehension the eleventh grade at state senior high school Tualang. It done based on experimental design focused quantitative research group. A group were taken as groups and comparison sample consisted 60 students from senir Tualang comprised 30 XI-4class 1 (Classwide Peer Tutoring Technique), XI-5 class 2 (Student Team Achievement Technique).Observation sheets tests used study. There are 40 items multiple choice questions pre-test post-test. To analyze data, independent t-test calculated by using SPSS 20 with significant probability Ho accepted if P<0.05 or there no effect after giving treatments, Ha P>0.05 treatments. Classwide Technique got size eta-squared follows: Eta-squared = 0.84x 100% 84%. Student 0.91 x 91%. highest Technique, but two classes did not differ significantly. Therefore, strategies could improve comprehension.
