چکیده

Cement Treated Base (CTB) is a mixture of aggregates, Portland cement and water that hardens through curing to create strong durable material widely used as base course in road pavement construction. This layer can be either flexible or rigid pavements, the range possible materials CTB has been recently expanded include Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP). Despite considerable use there only limited information regarding its environmental performance, especially when RAP added. paper presents comparative assessment performance sixteen mixtures, with without RAP, different percentages, production methods recycling procedures. The thickness layers required for given purpose was calculated each using design tool (KENPAVE®) data obtained from laboratory tests (both primary secondary data). sustainability Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology combined uncertainty analysis. functional unit (FU) consisted structure corresponding 1 km stretch 22 m wide major urban including would enable specified volume traffic drive safely over 20-year lifespan. A cradle-to-gate system boundary adopted. characterisation modelling quantify potential impacts carried out CML v. 4.4 2015 impact method at midpoint level. analysis shows having higher percentages allows thinner base-course layer, thereby compensating increased burdens related transport. leads greater spread LCA results. Further, results real case study show, regardless composition, mixed-in-place substantially reduces compared central-plant-mixed production. Overall, this research increases knowledge on containing high recycled produced alternative construction methods.

Leaching Characteristics of Recycled Asphalt Pavement: RAP May Be Suitable As a Fill Material

A procedure for stabilization/solidification of loose waste from the manufacture of Ni and Cd electrodes, which represents a nonutilizable and noncombustible hazardous waste, has been worked out. The procedure comprises solidifying the waste by means of an anionic slow-setting aqueous-asphalt emulsion with subsequent formation of an asphalt coating on the surface of solidified waste by spraying...

Integrated Sustainability Assessment of Asphalt Rubber Pavement Based on Life Cycle Analysis

This study aims to quantify and compare the life-cycle environmental, economic and social impacts of two pavement materials: namely 10mm Asphalt Rubber Stone Matrix Asphalt (ARSMA10) and 10mm Polymer Modified Stone Matrix Asphalt (PMSMA10). To achieve this objective, a comparative sustainability framework was developed by: 1) combining the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with pavement maintenance p...

Utilization of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (rap) in Jordan Roadways

Using Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in asphalt mixes has become a common practice in many countries as experience indicated that the recycling of asphalt pavements is very advantageous from different perspectives. Some of the advantages of utilizing RAP include conservation of asphalt and aggregate resources, conservation of energy, and reduction in life-cycle cost. In this study, the suitab...
