A Communication Toolkit to Build Trust: Lessons from Northern Ireland’s Civil Society Peacebuilders

Civil society organizations (CSOs) have important roles to play in building trust post-conflict societies. This research examined how 25 CSO peacebuilders use communication build Northern Ireland. Our findings suggest that work across different levels of as intermediaries. Communication is central peacebuilders’ practice engendering and demonstrating their trustworthiness individuals, inter-group facilitators organizational representatives. Synthesized from our data, a toolkit ‘low level’ intervention ‘high persuasion explains the strategies employ mitigate distrust nurture they towards peace We propose this might be malleable other conflict-affected contexts.
