A CLUSTERING OPTIMIZATION FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK USING K-MEANS ALGORITHM

The limitation of sensors energy make efficiency still a priority issue in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology. One effort that can be done to overcome this problem is design the right data transmission path (or better known as routing). Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) one most widely used cluster-based routing protocols because it considered capable minimizing amount consumption through formation clusters or groups nodes. Unfortunately, protocol will experience significant decrease increases. This partly due clustering process which carried out randomly and causes an imbalance distribution number nodes between clusters. study proposed method optimize LEACH by integrating K-Means algorithm, called LEACH-KMe. A simulation was conducted determine effectiveness considering 4 main parameters, namely total consumption, alive nodes, dead residual energy. test results proved LEACH-KMe provides performance than conventional (more even less well larger energy).
