A clinicopathological study of squamous cell carcinoma of oral cavity and oropharynx in non-smoker and non-drinker patients

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> To describe the clinicopathological variables of Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) oral cavity and oropharynx in non-smoker non-drinker patients (NSND).</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods: </strong>A retrospective review thirty NSND with proven SCC ENT department at Government Medical College Patiala. Data collected included demographics, aetiological factors, site, symptoms, nodal metastasis, histopathological grading TNM staging presentation.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> In cancers, presented commonly 4th decade whereas oropharynx, 6th decade. were more likely to be female, male female ratio being 43:56. women, 82% had 18% oropharyngeal SCC. 13% reported sharp tooth, 10% regular environmental exposure, occupational exposure followed by lichen planus (6.67%). SCC, maximum incidence was that tongue (59.1%) base (62.5%) most involved. Overall, well differentiated predominated both our study. early tumor i.e T1 T2 (81.8%) overall (stage I II).In advanced T3 T4 III, IV).</p><p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> patients, potential factors like smoke, may contribute oropharynx.</p>
