A Civil Aircraft Cockpit Layout Evaluation Method Based on Layout Design Principles

As technology continues to leap forward and innovations advance, the systems of civil aircraft are becoming increasingly sophisticated complex. Accordingly, there is a rising amount information be processed by pilots in cockpit, increasing their cognitive burden, which significantly threatens safety flight. Thus, designers have formulated cockpit layout principles relating importance, frequency use, functional grouping, operation sequence on basis ergonomics, can effectively reduce burden for pilots. The degree model conforms four design indicate its ergonomic level. In accordance with concepts above principles, evaluation methods determining respective conformity were proposed this paper. These use operational system controls used normal flight mission actual type as data source. Subsequently, total results obtained using weighted accumulation method. Lastly, process evaluating layouts was illustrated cockpits A320 series B737NG examples. Based final results, feasibility effectiveness method verified.
