A Characteristic Study of Polylactic Acid/Organic Modified Montmorillonite (PLA/OMMT) Nanocomposite Materials after Hydrolyzing

In this study, the montmorillonite (MMT) clay was modified with NH4Cl, and then structures were exfoliated or intercalated in a polylactic acid (PLA) matrix by torque rheometer ratio of 0.5, 3.0, 5.0 8.0 wt%. X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed that organic modified-MMT(OMMT) distributed successfully PLA matrix. After thermal pressing, stability mixed composites measured TGA. The also blended OMMT co-rotating twin screw extruder palletizing system, injected for ASTM-D638 standard specimen an injection machine measuring material strength MTS. experimental results showed mixture organophilic would enhance stability. 3 wt% nanocomposite, TGA maximum decomposition temperature (Tmax) rose from 336.84 °C to 339.08 °C. 5 loss 325.14 326.48 addition, elongation rate increased 4.46% 10.19% loading 58 MPa. vibrating hydrolysis process, PLA/OMMT nanocomposite degraded through measurement differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) its Tg, Tc, Tm1 declined.
