چکیده

Abstract A CFD study on horizontal oil-water flow with high viscosity ratio (O(103)) was conducted the VOF multiphase model in conjunction SST k–? turbulence scheme. Suitable settings of models and numerical solution were highlighted. Particularly, wall contact angle is shown to be important regarding oil fouling phenomenon commonly seen water-lubricated transportation highly viscous oil. Satisfactory predictions patterns obtained. Water holdup calculations consistent measurements, attaining relative discrepancy within 14%. However, pressure gradients exhibited inconsistencies 70%, for which poor prediction some simulations main cause. Nevertheless, provided reasonable estimate water lubrication degree flow. Detailed characteristics core annular (CAF) discussed particular based 3D simulation results.

Modification to mass flow rate correlation in oil-water two-phase flow by a V-cone flow meter in consideration of oil-water viscosity ratio

Oil-water two-phase flow widely exists and its measurement is of significance in oil well logging, oil transportations and etc. One of the techniques in common use in oil-water two-phase flowrate measurement is the Differential Pressure (DP) meters combining a theoretic model connecting the mass flowrate of the mixture with the differential pressures generated by the throttling element inside t...

Effects of Viscosity Variations on Buoyancy-Driven Flow from a Horizontal Circular Cylinder Immersed in Al2O3-Water Nanofluid

The buoyancy-driven boundary-layer flow from a heated horizontal circular cylinder immersed in a water-based alumina (Al2O3) nanofluid is investigated using variable properties for nanofluid viscosity. Two different viscosity models are utilized to evaluate heat transfer enhancement from a cylinder. Exact analytic solutions of the problem are attained employing a novel...

Gas-oil Ratio and Water-oil Ratio

An indicator of bypassing is a premature drop in gas-oil ratio; i.e., earlier than expected collapse of gas saturation. Early gas collapse (water fillup) may indicate that channeling has occurred. In layered reservoirs with no or little vertical crossflow, water injection in an initially depressurized layer will cause GOR to drop rapidly. Often naturally fractured reservoirs exhibit fast gas co...

Experimental Study on the Flow Regimes and Pressure Gradients of Air-Oil-Water Three-Phase Flow in Horizontal Pipes

An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the flow regimes and pressure gradients of air-oil-water three-phase flows in 2.25 ID horizontal pipe at different flow conditions. The effects of water cuts, liquid and gas velocities on flow patterns and pressure gradients have been studied. The experiments have been conducted at 20 °C using low viscosity Safrasol D80 oil, tap water ...

An Artificial Neural Network Model for Predicting the Pressure Gradient in Horizontal Oil–Water Separated Flow

In this study, a three–layer artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to predict the pressure gradient in horizontal liquid–liquid separated flow. A total of 455 data points were collected from 13 data sources to develop the ANN model. Superficial velocities, viscosity ratio and density ratio of oil to water, and roughness and inner diameter of pipe were used as input parameters of ...
