چکیده
Abstract Scyllarus Fabricius, 1775 includes nine species worldwide, three of which have been recorded from the Mediterranean Sea: S. arctus (Linnaeus, 1758), caparti Holthuis, 1952, and pygmaeus Bate, 1888. A specimen not ascribable to any previous was trawled in November 2020 unconsolidated substrates Gulf Naples, Italy. The sample subsequently identified through an integrative taxonomic approach as subarctus Crosnier, 1970, a originally described southern Angola (Eastern Atlantic Ocean) apparently expanding northward along Western Africa. It is possible that this taxon may already present but went overlooked or undetected. Results obtained molecular analyses underlined necessity extensive update supraspecific taxonomy scyllarids.

Findings of Phyllosoma Larvae and Nistos of the Family Scyllaridae (Crustacea, Decapoda) in the Southern Mediterranean Sea
The rare findings of specimens in larval or post-larval stages (6 phyllosomas and 7 nistos/early juveniles) belonging to the family Scyllaridae are reported for the waters around Sicily. Some were stranded on different winter occasions near the Strait of Messina (north–eastern Sicily), while others were collected during experimental trawl surveys carried out in the Sicilian Channel, at depths u...
متن کاملInterannual Differences for Sea Turtles Bycatch in Spanish Longliners from Western Mediterranean Sea
Recent studies showed that regional abundance of loggerhead and leatherback turtles could oscillate interannually according to oceanographic and climatic conditions. The Western Mediterranean is an important fishing area for the Spanish drifting longline fleet, which mainly targets swordfish, bluefin tuna, and albacore. Due to the spatial overlapping in fishing activity and turtle distribution,...

Five scyllarine lobsters are recorded from Taiwan for the first time. They are Bathyarctus rubens (Alcock & Anderson, 1894), Biarctus sordidus (Stimpson, 1860), Chelarctus aureus (Holthuis, 1963), Crenarctus bicuspidatus (De Man, 1905) and Petrarctus veliger Holthuis, 2002. The distributions of B. rubens, C. aureus and P. veliger are extended northwards to Taiwan. Distinguishing characters of t...

متن کاملPopulation Genetic History of Aristeus antennatus (Crustacea: Decapoda) in the Western and Central Mediterranean Sea
Aristeus antennatus is an ecologically and economically important deep-water species in the Mediterranean Sea. In this study we investigated the genetic variability of A. antennatus sampled from 10 sampling stations in the Western and Central Mediterranean. By comparing our new samples with available data from the Western area, we aim to identify potential genetic stocks of A. antennatus and to...
