چکیده
Current environmental concerns, the rising economic and costs of mineral fertilizers need to respond limitations N fertilization in organic farming motivate search for alternative sources maize cropping. Forage legumes used as winter cover crops may improve soil fertility offer benefits environment. The aim this study was examine effects, a factorial field experiment, two sowing dates (SD) nine different crop treatments (balansa clover, crimson gland arrowleaf French serradella, yellow lupin, Italian ryegrass, mixture weedy fallow) potential source an organically managed crop. experiment conducted at Viseu (Portugal) three years (2007/2008, 2008/2009 2011/12), same field. Results showed that grain yield not influenced by species but affected SD higher dry matter (DM) aboveground biomass production observed early (6.1 t ha−1). revealed their importance uptake: lupin earlier had highest uptake (83.6 kg ha−1), significantly from balansa clover (83.2 Ryegrass most efficient depleting values were just lower than lupin. Lupin least efficient, leaving more others crops, immediately before period when risk leaching is high. It concluded that, under edaphoclimatic conditions tested, tested supplying maize, best performance.

Cover crop effects on the fate of N in sweet maize (Zea mays L. saccharata Sturt.) production in a semiarid region
This research aimed to determine the effects of different cover crops and application ofbio-fertilizer on dynamic of nitrogen in the soil and sweet maize yield. Also, we evaluated theeffect of fall–winter species (common vetch, field pea, winter oats, fodder kale) and a mixtureof vetch and field pea with oats used as cover crops, as such as dead organic mulch andtraditional variant, without cov...

متن کاملShort-Term Response of Soil Spiders to Cover-Crop Removal in an Organic Olive Orchard in a Mediterranean Setting
This study shows that disturbance caused by cover-crop removal (CCR) in an organic olive orchard affects ground-spider populations. The effect of CCR on various organic olive-orchard plots was assessed by monitoring the abundance and diversity of ground-dwelling spiders. Covered plots in the organic olive orchard were compared with uncovered plots where the covers had been removed mechanically....
