93 Managing paediatric torus fractures at the Royal London Hospital: A Clinical Audit and Cost Analysis

Abstract Aim Torus fractures are extremely common, accounting for up to 25% of all paediatric-related visits the emergency department (ED). This audit aims assess adherence Royal London Hospital (RLH) NG38 NICE guidelines. These guidelines state that patients should not be given a rigid cast and discharged, advising carers follow-up is required. Method We analysed retrospectively collected data from cohort paediatric with torus who presented at RLH between September 2021 December 2021. In total 59 were included in audit. Recommendations later orthopaedic meeting RLH. Results From cohort, 22% inappropriate treatment including casts or without manipulation, an average time 3.8 weeks. 18.6% followed-up clinic, 54.5% received during discharge ED (the rest returned only removal). 63.6% had repeat X-Ray performed.
