808 Racial disparities in reliable contraception use in women with heart disease

Reliable contraception (RC) is encouraged for women with maternal cardiac disease (MCD) to allow counseling and medical optimization before pregnancy. Since MCD a leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths unduly affects Black women, we sought investigate differences in RC use between White MCD. Retrospective cohort managed by the UAB Comprehensive Pregnancy & Heart Program (CPHP). Women were included if they attended ≥ 1 prenatal visit at CPHP delivered Hospital March 2015 June 2019. The primary outcome was within 2 months postpartum (PP) receipt long acting reversible (e.g. intrauterine device or etonogestrel implant) PP sterilization (immediately up PP). Secondary outcomes modified World Health Organization cardiovascular risk classification (mWHO Class) III/IV, non-RC choices, follow-up. All compared based on self-reported race.
